Georgetown Royals Basketball takes a major win overall this season with both boys and girls basketball making it to the Sweet 16.  For the girls team, led by captains Megan Skahan, Emma Olson and Marley Morrison, this was the first time they have achieved this since 2016.

Boys

1st Team

  • Harrison Lien (Senior)

2nd Team

  • Jack Lucido
  • Matt Torgerson

Girls

2nd Team

  • Carena Ziolkowski

The girls team dominated against Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School on Tuesday, March 1st in the MIAA Preliminary round. They won 49-18, which pushed them to the MIAA Round of 32 against Tahanto, winning 53-42. Unfortunately for the girls team, they fell against Hoosac Valley in the sweet 16. Despite the loss, the girls team sets new records for the first time in 6 years.

The boys team follows the same path, winning the MIAA Round of 32 against Clinton dominating 63-52, but falls in the Sweet 16 against Burke.

Captain Jack Lucido attributes a large part of their success to their coach, Josh Keilty.

We were arguably one of the most successful teams in school history. We both won a league title and made it to the second round of the state tournament. I could not have asked for a harder working team and I give much credit to Coach Keilty for leading us in being so successful.”

Although the team had many successes throughout the season, and a lot to be proud of, they also faced many challenges. Lucido adds, “Physically, basketball is very difficult, but perhaps the mental aspect of the game is even more demanding.”

The entire school takes pride in these boys representing our school and are all extremely proud of their success!
